BUILT BY FISHERMEN.
BUILT FOR KOKANEE.
Rocky Mountain Tackle was built around a simple idea:
better tackle and better information can help fishermen catch more fish.
For more than 25 years, we’ve been learning, testing, and fishing for
kokanee and trout on the waters of the West.
Why Rocky Mountain Tackle
WE DON’T JUST SELL TACKLE. WE FISH IT.
Kokanee and trout fishing is a game of details. The right dodger. The right lure. The right leader length. The right speed. The right depth.
Rocky Mountain Tackle was created by fishermen who understand those details because we’ve spent years learning and testing on the water.
Every product we offer has a purpose. We create tackle that is functional, durable, proven and capable of helping anglers catch more kokanee.
OUR STORY
IT STARTED WITH A PASSION FOR
KOKANEE FISHING.
Rocky Mountain Tackle was created by Jared Johnson, an avid fisherman with more than 25 years of experience fishing for kokanee and trout.
Growing up in Utah, Jared spent countless days on lakes and reservoirs including Flaming Gorge, Strawberry Reservoir, and Fish Lake. Over time, he developed a deep understanding of kokanee fishing and noticed something was missing.
Kokanee fishermen needed specialized tackle, better selection, better information, and tackle they could trust on the water.
That idea became Rocky Mountain Tackle. What started with a passion for fishing grew into a company focused on quality, innovation, field testing, and helping other fishermen succeed.
THE FISHERMAN BEHIND ROCKY MOUNTAIN TACKLE
MEET JARED JOHNSON
Founder. Kokanee Fisherman. Product Innovator
Jared isn’t just the founder of Rocky Mountain Tackle, he’s the the fishermen behind the products.
His experience fishing kokanee and trout has shaped the way RMT approaches tackle development, product selection, and education. From testing products on the water to developing new ideas, Jared’s goal is simple: find what works, understand why it works, and share that knowledge with other fishermen.
You’ll see Jared throughout RMT, from product development and fishing reports to videos, techniques, and new tackle.
Because the best way to build fishing tackle is to fish it yourself.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
INNOVATE WHERE IT HELPS.
KEEP WHAT WORKS.
Fishing doesn’t need to be complicated. We believe great tackle should be functional, durable, proven, and field tested. Sometimes that means improving a proven technique. Sometimes it means creating something completely new.
Either way, every product decision starts with one question:
WILL THIS HELP FISHERMEN CATCH MORE FISH?

We’re building Rocky Mountain Tackle to be a resource anglers can come back to, not just a place to buy kokanee fishing gear.

WHY WE DO IT
BETTER TACKLE.
MORE KOKANEE.
MORE DAYS ON THE WATER.
Fishing is about more than the fish. It’s early mornings on the lake. It’s teaching your kids how to rig a rod. It’s sharing a boat with friends. It’s the first bite of the day and the stories you tell about it afterward.
We want Rocky Mountain Tackle to help create more
of those days. That’s why we’re committed to building tackle,
sharing knowledge, and helping fishermen of all
experience levels become more confident on the water.

HOW WE APPROACH TACKLE
TEST IT.
LEARN FROM IT.
MAKE IT BETTER.
01
TEST
Products need to work in real fishing conditions.
02
LEARN
We pay attention to what happens on the water.
What works, what doesn’t, and why.
03
IMPROVE
We use what we learn to improve products, develop new ideas, and help anglers make better decisions.
